Packerly is built to keep your travel plans yours. We designed it so that, in normal use, your packing data never touches a Packerly server. This policy explains, in plain language, what data exists, where it lives, and the few moments it leaves your devices.
The short version
- No accounts, no sign-up, no passwords.
- No advertising and no tracking in the app.
- Crash reports go to Sentry and are used only to fix crashes. They contain no trip data, and you can turn them off.
- Subscriptions are billed by Apple; RevenueCat checks your Packerly+ status under an anonymous ID.
- Your trips and lists live on your device and in your own iCloud.
- AI features only run when you turn them on, and only send what’s needed for that request.
- We never sell your data or use it to train models.
Where your data lives
Your trips, packing lists, bags, and settings are stored on your device and synced through Apple’s CloudKit into your personal iCloud private database. That data is tied to your Apple Account, not to Packerly — we have no servers that store your lists and no way to read them. If you turn off iCloud for Packerly, your data simply stays local to each device.
AI features
Packerly’s AI features — Conjure a trip, the Packing Copilot, Snap to Pack, and smart reviews — are optional. They run only when you explicitly use a feature: the free plan includes a monthly allowance of AI actions, and Packerly+ makes AI unlimited. When you do, the relevant prompt and trip context (for example, your destination, dates, and current list) are sent to our AI provider — OpenAI or Google, reached through our proxy — solely to generate that suggestion and return it to you.
That content is not used to train models, is not sold, and is not associated with an identity beyond what the request itself contains. If you never enable AI, none of this data leaves your device.
Weather
To show forecasts for a trip, Packerly uses Apple’s WeatherKit with the trip’s coordinates. This lookup is handled by Apple and is used only to display weather for that place and time.
Notifications
Departure reminders, Final Sweep, and Doorstep nudges are scheduled as local notifications on your device. They are not sent from a server and do not report back to us.
Subscriptions
Packerly+ is bought and billed through Apple. Packerly uses RevenueCat to check whether you have Packerly+. RevenueCat receives your purchase and subscription details from Apple, linked to an anonymous ID the app creates on your device, not to your name, email, or Apple Account.
To understand how people move from the free plan to Packerly+, the app also adds a few rounded counts to that anonymous record: roughly how many trips you’ve created and AI actions you’ve used, how long you’ve been using the app, whether you finished onboarding, and when the Packerly+ screen was shown. They never include trip names, destinations, lists, or photos, and they aren’t used for advertising or tracking.
Crash reports
Packerly uses Sentry, a crash reporting service, for one purpose: finding and fixing crashes. When the app crashes, freezes, or hits a serious error, it sends Sentry a technical report: the app and operating system version, the device model, and what the app’s code was doing at that moment. A small sample of sessions also sends performance timings, which help us find what led to a freeze.
Crash reports never include your trips, lists, item names, photos, notes, Copilot conversations, or anything you type. They aren’t linked to your Apple Account or any identity, and they aren’t used for analytics, advertising, or tracking. Sentry processes them in its EU region.
Crash reporting is on by default. To turn it off, open Settings in Packerly, choose AI & Privacy, and switch off Share crash reports. The Apple Watch app doesn’t send crash reports.
